The Asian-American Cultural Circle of Unity is presenting its first Multinational Cultural Festival on Long Island, showcasing the heritage and traditions of countries from North and South America, Asia and Europe. The festival begins at 11am. There will be free workshops available until 12 for men and women in yoga and martial arts and a puppet show for children. Opening ceremonies begin at noon and will feature the Lion Dance, a vibrant performance by Korean drummers, a cultural costume parade, honor guard and welcoming remarks by local community leaders. For the next four hours there will be live performances by J-Pop, classical and contemporary musicians and traditional and modern singers and dancers both in the main festival room and the Little Theater. Artists will exhibit their work throughout the room and cultural booths will delight visitors with their colorful displays. Workshops for children include Snake Lantern Assembly (Taiwan), Japanese Origami, Water Color Painting (China), Diva & Henna (India) and Flower Painting Using a Variety of Vegetables (Philippines). Corporate and small vendors will be participating as will several traditional and ethnic restaurants in the outside Food Court. Cultures represented at the festival are China, Guyana, Haiti, India, Italy, Jamaica, Japan, Korea, the Philippines, Spain, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey and several Spanish speaking countries.
